Advantage Business, one of New Zealand’s longest established business advisory firms, is preparing for the future in Taranaki

The Board announced today that it will expand its Taranaki practice to meet the growing needs of the region.

The firm has had a presence in Taranaki through the well-known business advisor and local Director, Craig Hattle, who took over as Taranaki Partner almost a decade ago.

Hattle explains that the Business Advisory industry has changed substantially over the last 10 years. Notably, It is now far more common for business owners to seek support and advice. They often seek out enhanced business advice in addition to traditional banking and accountancy services.

“Our focus as a practice has always started with the people involved. If we can help a business owner, senior manager, or business team be the best they can be, the commercial results will flow from there.”

We are aware that many Taranaki business owners will be looking to exit in the coming years. They will be replaced by a new generation of tech-savvy, globally focussed people who are planning to work differently and innovatively to make Taranaki a destination of choice for both business and lifestyle.

Meeting a growing need

To meet this demand, Craig Hattle announced a new Advisor to the region, experienced local businessman Chris Rudd. Chris will be working very closely with the team as well as with colleagues in Palmerston North and the Kapiti/Wellington area, to complete the coverage for businesses right across the Lower North Island.

“I am also pleased to introduce the Taranaki Team of Associates, Helen Flitcroft, Mieke Rotteveel and Anne Cullen, who work together under the Maiara brand. They specialise in personal development and organisational change management.

The Post COVID-19 work environment has changed to some degree. It is now more common for people to live and work in different towns, using technology and adapting to remote working. There is also a far greater focus on well-being at work. Importantly, businesses are recognising this through greater flexibility, so as a business support service, we need to be able to support and adapt to these trends.” reflects Craig Hattle.

Leading the way

The nationwide network of Advantage Business advisors has been successfully helping business owners find their advantage for the past 21 years. This national network will play an important support role in the Taranaki Partnership.

“Craig’s business partners are watching closely to see how the associate model works in Taranaki. The business will take the learnings from Taranaki and deploy the same strategy across the regions. We need to meet the market where it needs us to be.” says Principal, Rod Way. “We’ve experimented with the one-to-many format in the past and with scaling down our offer to meet the needs of smaller clients. Now we have the mechanism to make this work through our associate programme.

I am excited to grow the practice and hope it will be the start of something unique for our industry. Advantage Business has the agility to evolve with the times. As a result, it has enjoyed longevity and success in this competitive industry.”
